Stern Tube and Propeller Strut

This is one of the most difficult parts untill now. The preformed slot in the hull was not exactly in the proper position. Th space between the engine and the stern tube insufficient for the bullflex and cuff. So some adaptation was needed while keeping the proper alignment and angle.

The stern tube is a 90x20mm 5083 pipe. The two ends were adapted for the Vesconite bushing and for the Tides Marine SureSeal

The shaft (Vetus) is a 40mm steel for the Jprop 20" propeller

The Vetus Bullflex 8

Keeping the proper distance between bushing is critical to avoid vibration or excessive stiffness

Here you see the stern tube, the shaft and part of the prop strut

I went for a 20mm 5083 V shaped strut attached to the frame

Applying all the correct angles and lengths. The shaft is offset to the left, 5cm at the strut.

Difficult to match everything without compromize, but we did it!
